I'm back. Germany isn't a very tough deployment. The beer is a lot better than what you can get here in the states. And, the Autobahn would be a great place to log WOT runs without having to worry about cops.
Sober of course.
It's time to get ready for my WOT logging, but, I've got to get this AFR issue resolved. As far as I can tell, my PCM doesn't provide data for an AFR PID. So, how does the DataViewer program get that data from the Predator? Even if I upgrade the tuner, and my PCM doesn't provide this parameter, where does it get it? If there's an internal calculation from other data output from the PCM, I can write my own script in ScanXL to provide this parameter. I would just need to know which PCM supported PIDs to use and the formula. Maybe these questions are best answered on the DS Forum.
Palmer recently posted an upgrade to ScanXL. In this upgrade they have included a number of CALC PIDs. One of which is an AFR calculation. I haven't tried to log with it since it was announced but this may be promising. I'd save $99 if it works. I'm cheap sometimes. I'm not exactly sure why I'm avoiding the upgrade. Seems I'd lose something I might want to keep handy for my own edification like the ability to adjust transmission settings or disable emmission codes should I ever need to.
For what it's worth, I use a ScanGauge II to monitor my LTFT on both banks. As I cruise down the highway, I can easily see how well I'm dialed-in to the 0 to -2 range. I highly recommend adding this device, or something similar, to anyone's dash. It's much safer than monitoring the Predator while you drive. And, it provides feedback to your driving habits to help you improve your gas mileage.
The temperatures here have risen enough to say "I'm dialed-in". I haven't had to adjust the LTFT since before I was deployed so I'm ready for the PE and KR adjustments from the WOT log I need to complete. After that, I'll be ready for that custom tune by Lew. Being an old school carb mechanic, this new electronic tuning sparks my interest. I'm interested in learning more.
I'm a subscriber to other GM truck forums and their subscribers tend to bash Diablosport and the Predator. I'm not convinced that, with CMR tuning available for the Predator, you can't get the same thing as you would with an EFILive or an HP Tuner tune cheaper than with the Predator. As a matter of fact, I believe you get more with owning a Predator. With Blackbear for instance, you have to wait for them to ship you an interface to log data. You pay a deposit for an interface device, they send it through the mail (4-5 days of waiting), you log your data according to their instructions (sounds familiar), send your log to a tuner via email (sounds familiar), get your tune from the tuner via email (sounds familiar), upload your tune to the interface device (sounds familiar), then load the tune to your vehicle (sounds familiar), pay $200, and you send the interface back to get you initial deposit back. But, you're not done. How do you put the original stock tune back if you need to take the vehicle to the dealer for service? Oh yeah, you got to have a second PCM in you hip pocket so your warranty isn't void. Or, if you don't have that handy, you need that inteface back to download that custom tune and replace the stock tune. What's a spare PCM cost?
WTF, you own an inteface device (the Predator) and you can make your own adjustments on the fly when you need to make them and replace the custom tune with the stock tune for that warranty work. With Blackbear, you need that inteface device back to do anything when you want to adjust something or have that spare PCM ready. For about $450 dollars you get a tuning device from Diablosport and a custom tune from a CMR tuner. Let's see; for $200 you get a tune plus time spent gathering and sending stuff here to there, plus the cost of a spare PCM (up to about $400 now), waiting for the mail to arrive, boxing it back up to send in the mail, and on and on and on. All of this would be a big hassle to me. I have better things to do with my time. To get the same thing with EFILive as you would have with a Predator, you would spend about $750 for the software and interface. And, you would have to tune it yourself taking the risk of messing up your vehicle. My math says the Predator is a better deal. The jury is out with me whether the Trinity or the InTune tuners will be cheaper.
Forgive me, I talk to much. Thanks for reading.

Thanks again to Frank and Lew for DSLogRedux and this Forum.
